Hello everyone. Please tell me something about this token. I saw on internet huge difference in prices. Some examples (graded but also raw) are very expensive (from 150 to almost 700$), but others are very cheap (20-30$ in nice grades). Can you tell me why difference is so huge? And if it is possible, please value my token. I believe it is brass, weight 3,5-4g and diameter 21-22mm. Thank you for your help.

Hi Thusdayclub. Posting for the first time to this forum. I have this exact same coin / token. Did you ever arrive at an accurate valuation?

I had one of these long ago and since it was non-standard I proceeded to lose track of it. Is there record of who issued it? I'd guess a Las Vegas casino but don't know which it might have been.

More than likely that one and similar ones out of basemetal and glided were sold as souvenir type tokens . with the gilding worn tyo the point of almost non existant. They would end up in the bargain bin for a dollar or two. I have had a number of them in bulk buys. It never was issued as a casino gaming token. as all would have a value and location were it could be redeemed at. All slot machine tokens would be pointless to issue with no name or amount, even nickle slot machines have the value an casino name on them. When they were in common use the dollar slot tokens are for use at the named casino, and they frowned on using them at other casinos. since they do have a monetary value to the issuing casino and they aren't considered legal tender.

I agree with Circus.

I honestly don't think this was minted in 1849. It's too nicely struck.

I'd put this in the category of Charles E. Barber's 1883 V nickel, I'm just joshing you.
