Although this is not the proper category (checks, stocks, bonds?) the vast majority fall within the modern coin era. In any event I feel certain one of the moderators will relocate this, so thanks in advance.

To the subject. Does any one collect these? While I've had a few for many years, I recently began assembling an ongoing collection. The more I get the more intrigued I become the history behind them. Which poses a question. When did these first appear? I have heard that they started with March of Dimes campaign during the Roosevelt administration, late 1930's. Some of these savers have images of Winged Liberty Dimes on them so it stands to reason. My next question would be, are there any books referencing these?

Fascinating pieces of numismatic history these are.

I have a few I've saved over the years. Most of mine are from the 1950's and 1960's I think.

I believe they were given out as advertising items and to help youngsters begin savings accounts. I think the holders would fit in about 30 dimes and $3.00 was what it took to open up a savings account. (My how convenient!)

I'll try to find mine tomorrow and will see what else I can figure out about them. Will post some pics, too.

I'm confused. Exactly what kind of dime collections are you referring to?
