1966 Roosevelt Dime? - Coin Community Forum

Doc_SPB New Member Canada 7 Posts	Posted 10/16/2014 9:47 pm Hi new to the forum during a search on a coin in my collection I found this post from 2010 "I have today another apparent major mint error. I have a 1966 Roosevelt dime, with what appears to be missing the outer copper-nickel layers on the coin, or a "core only" Dime" Well.. I have found another one but in much better shape coincidence?. The previous people who posted ruled out rarity and blamed the cause on an acid bath? is it possible for the same dime of the same year to have gone through the same procedure. Thanks for any input? Doc_SPB New Member Canada 7 Posts	Posted 10/16/2014 10:34 pm hmm that could make sense but you would think that there would be more significant ware could the shining be transfer from other shiny surfaces the edges would mark up the easiest. Adam_E Pillar of the Community United States 4846 Posts	Posted 10/16/2014 11:09 pm there would really only be wear if it was circulated for a long time after it was dug up, the patina can stay for quite a while after coming up from the ground. And no, I dont think anything shiny would rub off in that way. You could make a light scratch somewhere to see if there's nickel under it. Report this Post to the Staff
