Help With 1976 S Half Dollar! Is It Silver?

Mister Kairu Pillar of the Community United States 1911 Posts	Posted 10/31/2014 7:26 pm Hi all I was wondering what to look for if post-1970 half dollars contain silver in them. I have tried looking up stuff online but have always had trouble with this. Here are some pics of the one I have. And any tips on how to tell if other proofs are silver would be appreciated. I thought that this wasn't the silver version but just wanted to check here to make sure. So with the silver versions the rims would be completely silver in color and not the silver/copper color correct? Report this Post to the Staff

It is all spelled out in the " RedBook". But due to the tolerance range of the two coins overlapping, weight can NOT be used to definitively identify them. tissue test should work though. A silver plating can fool the tissue test but if it was plated you wouldn't see the edge separations. Report this Post to the Staff
