A small step closer again - but no.

Where is 'chrsmat71'? He pays a lot of attention to those females.

Not Salonia, but I guess you mean Salonina.

Guess-The-Emperor-Revised-Again Guess-The-Emperor-Revised-Again

Billon Tetradrachm of Salonina minted in year 15 (ie AD267+) of Gallienus in Alexandria - cf.Milne#4182

Obverse: KORN[ELIA SAL]WNEINA SEB around bust right, draped and crowned with stephane
Reverse: Eagle standing right, in field to right L IE

Btw, one really has to be a 'nut' (just like those 'Trekkies') to learn the birth-places of Roman emperors by heart - one valuable advice one of my professors gave us in an early lecture "one does not need to know everything, it is important though that one is able to find out or deduct everything that is important".

My cousin was born in Galicia, so it was easy to remember. Sorry about the spelling, and one should never shun another's thirst for true knowledge . I am going to bed so anyone may post.

There are certainly the odd titbits of knowledge/information/facts which will stick with one even though they are not so important in the scheme of things (I am guilty of that like everyone else), but the focus should be on the relevant stuff.

In primary school I learnt about all the Roman emperors who visited my hometown (yes, we started local history early) but most of the details (some are still there) have now been replaced with more relevant stuff.

OK here is one that might be very easy or having you scratching your heads. The coin is attributed to a specific ruler.

Did start scratching my head since you started this thread - and haven't had a break yet.

I take your comment as indicating that there is no legend with the rulers name, let's try:

Andronicus II, Palaiologos

That is correct no legend. Take note of the size of the flan that will direct you where to start looking.
