GR58 Bedrock of the Community United States 11951 Posts	Posted 02/09/2015 09:18 am I picked up a group of ancient coins last year, but after some poor attempts at cleaning, I set them aside. Now I really want to get them labeled. I did post some last August, so I have a good start, thanks to you all. For this one, I saw a Justinian here is CCF's auction section. I see my coin has a similar reverse. But the obverse, to me, seems a little different. I attempted a look through Vcoins but failed at finding one ... I feel it is common .. hoping someone knows. Veton Valued Member Spain 108 Posts	Posted 02/09/2015 09:46 am It seems to be ANASTASIUS I, Byzantine emperor from 491 to 518. It is a follis or 40 nummi coin. Big M is the mark for 40 nummi/follis. Legend must be Obverse:DN ANASTASIUS PP AUG Reverse: E (Epsilon in greek script) means the fifth "oficcina" of Constantinople mint. v.
