Igor Mozheiko - probably much better known under his pen name Kir Bulychov - wrote a somewhat famous book on the state of the world in 1185 (and years nearby). We just passed that date in this thread - something I never really expected when this was started originally. That said, English hammered pennies isn't what I expected this to continue with either (though I can kind of see why). There's a surprising lack of both Arabic and Chinese, which should be common enough for this era. [And where did Medieval disappear anyway? I'm not seeing any black ribbons on his profile, so he's probably still alive...  ]
