I recently acquired this Khosrau II Sassanian drachm and after that did a web search but found nothing similar to the piece that I have... then I started to have some doubts. Could someone help me to verify its authenticity? There are a lot of varieties for this coin and I know little about Persian coinage. I just paid about 10$US for it. It was a gamble as the seller doesn't know much about it as well.

Thank you for the links, t360. Mine looks more like the one on the second link. :) There're just too many varieties of these coins and without a proper reference book I guess I can't do much. Anyway I just gave the drachm a try, my first of such type. Thanks again.

You might want to invest in this recent book by Robert Goebl.
Jerry Walker has a copy for sale.

t360, thank you for the recommendation. That looks like a real good book, but I don't have any plans to branch into Sassanian numismatics at the moment. Too tied up with East Asian coinage. I got the drachm just as an example from that period, though still unsure whether it's authentic. That book might be able to provide the answer I'm looking for, but $30 is a bit too much just to refer to one coin.

Zach Beasley of Beast Coins has an excellent Sasanian site and
Zach also recommends Thomas Mallon-McCorgray's site.

t360, thank you once again for the links. The first one was excellent. Although I still couldn't find a variety similar to mine, but that site has helped me to decipher all the arabic scripts and also provided more info. Great!
