I am currently working on a merc set. They are IMO, one of the few coins that can still look good even when they are almost worn slick. They are very popular and very fun, and it helps that they are readily available in circulated condition and most shops should have a large amount of dimes for you to look through. I would strongly suggest going for the best grades that you can. Many of the dates in the 1940s are available in uncirculated condition for less than $15 each. For example, this lovely lady only cost me $7...
I would agree, Merc's even look good even in AG-03...just as long as they aren't cleaned. I saw a bad cleaning job on some of them at my LCS the other day. Sad, sad...
I believe their shipping rate is $6, but, you can order as many albums as you want with no additional shipping fees. If you order more than $100, you get a 10% discount. When I had ordered (15) used Indian cent Library of Coins albums, half of them were brand new as he only had a few used albums. Their used albums were in great shape anyway.
