XRF will NOT pick if a gold piece has a tungsten core; such a tast only tests for atoms in the surface layers.

That is why a comparative ring tone test should be done first.

Comparative ring tone testing costs you nothing to perform, because you can do it yourself, and there is no need for testing equipment.
