I traded a 1oz monarch bar I bought from colonial acres to a coin buddy who sais the guy at the pawn shop said its fake. I'm told it didnt stick to a magnet but there was some pull. I tested it with the fridge magnet and nothing for me. I assume the guy at the pawn shop has a strong one. I am just surprised as colonial acres is reputable. House should I produced. I am leaning twords its real but not sure.

I believe that pure silver will have a slight attraction to strong magnets, I believe there is an inclined test, and the pure is supposed to slow the magnet down, compared to non silver.

The silver does not slow the magnet, what slows the magnet is the electrical field created when the magnet slides down the silver. Sliding a magnet down a piece of copper will produce this effect. Think generator with a magnetic rotor rotating, surrounded by copper windings.

First thing I would do is contact "colonial acres" and tell them you have been told a coin you bought from them is fake and want them to exchange it for another that they have tested and is sure is real.
They should immediately do so. If they don't, start a campaign to let the world know, BBB etc.
A silver bar shouldn't have any ingredients added that are magnetic. Shouldn't be any "pull". It is possible the pawn shop guy is wrong though.

K. Yeah. My concern is I go through the trouble of complaining and sending it back and the pawn shop guy is wrong. I guess I'll start by contacting the company I bought from.

I'd call Colonial Acres and explain to them what has been said about the 1 oz monarch bar, I'm sure they will help you out. Colonial Acres as far as I'm concerned is one of the best Coin Stores out there.

I'd trust the pawn shop guy about as much as a carnival barker. The pawn shop guy was telling your buddy it was "fake" because he was hoping he'd sell it for a few bucks "just to get rid of it".

You could try taking it to a jeweler and get an acid test done on it. That will be pretty definitive on whether or not the silver is fake.

I thought that to westernsky but He said the guy is a buddy and I assume he let him feel the pull. Maybe I will start with calling colonial acres. And go from there. I am sceptical its a fake. I assume it came straight from monarch and isn't a used bar. I would assume they would advertise it as used if it were.wish I knew a jeweler.that may be the next step.

Coin dealers buy and sell a lot of coins, bars etc, its possible its a fake if they didn't check it properly or came in a large lot etc, not saying its fake but it is a possibility. As some have said , "some pawn shops can be shady or maybe they where making a guess as it may have "looked" fake, but wasn't who knows I guess.

Colonial Acres is a pretty large and reputable company. I would tend to give them more of a benefit of the doubt than some hearsay from a generic pawnbroker

I am very sceptical its fake. Thats the problem. I dont trust the pawn shop guy as I dont know him and wasnt there. But hard to argue. I just spoke with colonial and he assured me they come straight from the refinery. I guess I will just buy it back and go from there. Maybe make a trip to the hardware shop and test it on a strong magnet myself.

Make sure the you get back the same bar you sold/traded, and if I was in your position, I certainly would beware of any future transaction with 'pawnshop guy' and/or your numismatic buddy... Far too many people willing to compromise their ethics for a quick buck

Yea! I go with not trusting the pawn guy!
There full of hot air to do deals.
It would have to be the last place to take a nice piece of silver.
