Bought this one today. It is in a problem free ANACS holder. General discussion, grade, variety, comments all welcome. Thanks for looking!

Now that is a major and impressive addition to your collection!
1797 9x7 stars, (actual variety beyond me at the moment).
I can see this example at least at VG8, very possibly VG10. Strong reverse.
Very nice example of a date which is scarcer than the 1795 and 1796 draped busts in my opinion.

Thanks GERMANICVS and coinfrog. I'll wait and see if anyone else wants to guess the grade before I reveal it.

I'm guessing that the strong reverse might actually bring up the overall grade. Rims are complete and mostly sharp on both sides. ANACS F-12 seems reasonable.

I also bought a 1797 for my Small Eagle dollar type coin because the reported mintage for that date is so low. Mine is the 10X6 star variety which I think is more common than the 9X7. Congrats on a great addition to your set!

I am thinking f-12. I am wondering if it is a combination of wear and weak strike on the bust and eagle.

Congrats! I am between VG-10 & F-12. I see elements that qualify for both grades, but I will go with VG-10. She's a beauty

I checked briefly the HA archives and got your 1797 9x7 as a Large Letters, Bolender-1, Rarity 3. It appears that B-1 is the only 1797 variety with this combination of letter size and star count.
A nice coin!
