Seller says XF, I'm thinking more toward AU-50 to AU-53 range. Possibly details but still a beautiful and $$$ coin.

I think their XF45 assessment is spot on. Might go 50 but the luster isn't really showing. It's a $2k coin in 45 and a $3k coin in 55 so they should go conservative knowing it's been body-bagged at a TPG.

I think AU-50 for this one. I don't think it would straight grade at a TPG though.

The coin is at least EF45, but it falls short of AU50 in my book. No luster
evident and some circulation wear. Does not look like an AU to me.

Whichever the case, it is still a scarce and desirable dime. Certainly genuine and much more desirable than this other 1858-S which sold a few days ago..
Well, at least the got the grade right.

This seller is one you can usually count on for accurate grading. He often uses a "spread grade" of VF-EF, for example, but I've never seen him be too far out of line. He usually "details" coins that he sees a problem with, too.

I agree with his grading the majority of time, and I STILL use the PCGS Photograde as a handy source any time I'm uncertain for a direct comparison.

I have gotten nice coins from this seller in the past. He states in the description that the Obverse has been lightly cleaned, so I don't think anything is being hidden. It has nice eye appeal and the grade seems accurate to me - higher end XF - XF45 to me.
