I am unsure of exactly what you are referring to. However this coin is heavily circulated. There are scratches on both sides ( PMD) and a fingerprint over the queen.

If you are referring to the discolouration it could be environmental or maybe a mixture problem with the copper.

Because of the excessive wear this coin to me is not a keeper
