The Die Clogs on this 1859 is quite heavy and I do believe that it is Haxby 52a+J11a which is quite scares!

Examine Haxby variety 381.
The Serif of the C in CANADA is as 381;
the re-punched 1st A in CANADA is as 381, etal.

Clogged dies are common on obverse 38.
The vine at leaf 7 could be deceptive...is it a
clogged reverse E ?

The right-side of the serif of the N in CANADA
is repuncched on your coin and on Haxby 381, but
not so on variety 52.

p.s. I find 381 tougher than 52a/J11a as I have
one 52a/J11a, but am still looking for the 381.
Great find.

Yes after further examining this coin, it is 38+E39 Doug. I had 2 of these before and now I have 3. So now I am still missing the 52a+J11a Up to 195 diff. Haxby # now!

Doug, we miss seeing you up at the Canadian shows... Gene cherry picked a lot of my 1859 coins in better grades at the last show. Will we see you up north of the border again at a future Coin Expo?

Canada is a loooong way from south Florida.
I desire to attend additional shows, but I
do not anticipate it in the near future.
