Tough to tell from the pics, but it just looks so crude, almost like an electrotype?

Agreed, the first one is a nice alteration. The second one is really ugly.

Another look at that 1914 D (the 2nd one) and it says "In Sod We Trus T"

Notice there's a big gap in between the "s" and the "t" in "Trust", and it says Sod, not God...

In the future 1944 D pennies are going to be a key date because all the good ones were altered to make them into bad 1914 d fakes.

I just found a 44D cent in change 2-3 weeks ago, anyone need some? and I have several more also. Not for fakes though.

I'd be curious on altering my own 1944 D into a "1914 D"...but after that I'd end up destroying it, or at least throw it in a lake.
