Hi everyone,

Not to be outdone, my brother went ahead and got some early birthday presents for himself.

I think we're now competing for the smallest and oldest coin.

I purchased a hemiobol last week that's 4mm and 0.3 g. I'm winning so far on the size. But, I think he has me beat on the age and weight.

Thanks!

I forgot to say what they are.

The first one is a hemihekte (electrum) 1/12 stater from Ionia, Mlietos around 600-550 BC.

The second one is a 1/96 stater also from Ionia, Miletos around 510-494 BC. It has the rosette pattern.

Thanks echizento, I always appreciate your comments.

I must admit that I'm pretty jealous of the hemihekte. I'd love to get one, but they're way out of my price range. I hope he at least lets me look at it. :P
