Cool coin - and thread, Lucky Cuss.
Okay, let's take this to ancient India for a bit...or, more accurately, the northern part of the Indian subcontinent. I'll kick in a couple examples from my Kushan collection for the thread.
Kushan bronze coins are typically in bad shape after so many centuries, often with verdigris and occasional bronze disease...and production standards were likely pretty poor to begin with. So for my first three (all tetradrachms from the reign of Kanishka I) I'll just include individual sides of some selected coins.the other sides of these particular examples are well worn and may have been struck from worn dies. I show both sides of the last (Vima Kadphises) coin since they are in decent shape.

Kanishka I (c. 127 - 152 AD)

Kanishka I (c. 127 - 152 AD)
This reverse show a four-armed Oesho (Siva?) standing facing, head turned to left, nimbate, holding various attributes, Bactrian legend right, tamgha at left

Vima Kadphises (c. 100 - 128 AD)
Obv: King standing left, sacrificing over altar at left, trident to left, tamgha and club to right, Greek legend
Rev: Siva standing facing, the bull Nandi standing to right, Karosthi legend
