When I have my Red Book, I can usually make an educated guess, but when it's something like that I'm not exactly great at guessing. I thought I was over with $85, then I find that I was under a tenth of the actual price.

Please allow me to explain a bit about the R3 coin ... and the market price for such truly rare lowball coins. There are a limited number of us collectors who are passionate towards the goal of finding the entire 50-coin type set of classic silver commemorative in honest, certified lowball state. We are not investors worried about price appreciation ... we are collectors passionate towards achieving our long term goals. When rare true lowball of this series become publically available ... this was a raw (non-certified) ebay coin BTW ... the competition amongst us is fierce ... but at the end of the auction we remain supportive friends. The R3 Vancouver Half is the current PCGS FR02 Pop 1/0 lowball: I indeed paid a healthy price for the coin ... but thrilled to have it in my set. David

@nickelsearcher
I knew the price was going to be high as there are very few of these out there in this grade, but I didn't expect it to be that high.

Indeed TypeCoin971793 ... I was hopeful to purchase the raw ebay coin for much less ... but as I shared above there are coin friends of mine who are diligent as well in their pursuit of this set and I respect their interest. In the case of the Vancouver ... one of them pushed the price to what it was. So be it ... we are all collectors and I respect their enthusiasm and passion. David
