If I submitted a gold plated racheteering nickel from 1883(assuming it was made then) would it grade details if I submitted it to NGC then PCGS then ANACS

IMHO ,I don't think they would grade it at all. It was gold plated to deceive people to think it is a $5 gold piece. can't see how they could grade it.  |

I forget the thread, but someone submitted a bunch of coins to one of the top 3, and one came back body bagged as "Plated, Not Gradeable."

I would be sent back ungraded if it has been plated, irrespective of condition.

It will not grade and likely will not even be holdered as genuine. I would call all three services before wasting my money submitting it.

It also needs to have reeding filed into the edge to be a true racketeer.

I read the post wrong, I thought it said reeding filled.
So the gold plated 1883 5-cent pieces used as $5 gold pieces had reeding added? I only knew they were plated.

As per PCGS if it doesn't have reeding it's just not a true racketeer. Lots were made just to sell as racketeers but they weren't.
