Hi there,

I found coins, including this one, scattered throughout my elderly parents' home that have not seen the light of day in decades. While I searched online and on this forum, I cannot find a match for this coin. While at first look the date seems to be 1690, with a magnifying glass it looks more like 1600. Looking forward to hearing back on this!

Great! Thanks so much! I had found a Hesse-Cassel coin from 1700's that looked a little similar but following that lead, I'd had no results. If you can explain what the mark means under the lion I'd be so appreciative. It looks like a V and an F combined.
