At first I thought this was an extra leaf above the arrows. When I looked at an overlay from the mad die clash website I think it is actually part of Washington's eye. What do you think? Thanks.
I can see something...sort of. I gave up on my USB because the lighting was too strong. I tried inventing scotch tape diffusers to try to reduce it without much luck. So I went to using my iPhone and loupe. I quickly bought an AmScope so now I take the shots with my phone through the eyepiece. Works fairly well. BUT, I still have the lighting problem. For me, it's the biggest issue. So I use diffusers to reduce the glare and it helps. I think an adjustable collar lamp would work best, but I haven't investigated it yet because I'm getting by as is.
I saw that another member blocked off some of the LEDs with electrical tape. Maybe that'll work for you. If not, experiment. To be frank, your pictures are pretty good for a newbie. So have fun experimenting. You are finding some great coins...
That area is known for a clash mark created by the field and Washington's nose. MADdieclashes.com has a section on denominational overlays that can be of help in detrming just what created that particular die clash.
