Mljohnson96 New Member United States 4 Posts	Posted 03/10/2016 10:47 am Hey guys. Hoping to draw some knowledge. I've touched a bit in collect over the years. Was hitting pretty hard for a while but then had to back off for a few years due to divorce. Anyway. While thumbing through pocket change last night I stumble over the Roosevelt. Something caught my eye so I took a closer look. I'm a bit confused on this one. On the attached pictures you'll see a distinct ridge along the rim next to liberty. I'm not sure if this is a mint error or post mint damage to the coin. The reverse side is perfect only thing going on is the ridge. Would love some opinions. Thanks Report this Post to the Staff

I know the difference in the process of each one being created. Basically I guess what I'm asking is how to tell them apart visually. Report this Post to the Staff
coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 03/10/2016 8:41 pm A fin error is from too much pressure during the strike. A MAD is from improper alignment of the hammer (adjustable) die. Leaving the coin un-centered over the anvil die. (fixed position) Report this Post to the Staff
