2 Coins For Identification. Authentic?

moxking Rest in Peace United States 17900 Posts	Posted 03/23/2016 6:59 pm I can't read the second coin, but I'd bet its 4th century, and even without being able to read a GUESS would be Theodosis. Don't take that for gospel. The only reason I'm guessing that is I have a similar issue for Theodosis. I'm sure a Roman expert or two can chime in for a real identification. Legend reads "DNCONSTAN-(TIV)SPFAVG" / "FELTEMPRE-PARATIO". Pretty sure Constantinople mint. Extremely common. How large is it? These came in two sizes--the larger cententionalis (about the size of a half dollar) and the smaller AE3 (between a nickel and quarter). The larger is worth slightly more, although such a common coin in this condition is probably worth $3-5 tops. Report this Post to the Staff
