Got this coin yesterday evening and anytime you get coins in the mail it's Very cool - my second oldest coin in my collection - think of what the world was like in 1666. Thanks for including the details with it and thanks overall for the great giveaway!

Dave - Thank you for your generosity. Yours is an act of selflessness, in support of the Forum, as well as the Hobby in general. I'm excited to receive the coin you're sending. I promise to give it a good home and to treat it with respect. Rest assured that the story of how I got the coin will be re-told, and become part of my collection, as it is passed along to my children, and theirs. Very best regards, Jack

I'm a little surprised that CCF Admin hasn't taken a moment to thank Dave (maybe they have and I missed the post). This is a really novel and generous idea. Dave is not only giving away some fascinating ancient coins, he's also paying to mail them out. That's a lot of time and effort, as well as expense, in support of CCF. Thanks for everything Dave. @Jack316, thanks for your kind words! Hopefully, we can inspire some new folks to also become supporters of CCF. Quote: Rest assured that the story of how I got the coin will be re-told, and become part of my collection, as it is passed along to my children, and theirs. Yikes, I'm just hopeful that the coin lives up to these high expectations...

I received my 1 Solidas from dspenciner yesterday and was thrilled to see the eagle with crest, the POLO and a figure on the obverse, it is really thin, absolutely cool, thanks ever so much. See pictures of my coin beside another favorite from 300 years later. Thanks for the piece of history.

@silverdon, glad you like the coin so much! I do like the nautical theme to the silver dimes from Canada too, so your other favorite is pretty cool too. One small thing is that the attribution is Kopicki (not Kopizki). As you have just found out, I have atrocious handwriting.

I received my very cool coin yesterday (it likely arrived earlier, but I hadn't been to the PO in a bit). There's a very good chance it will encourage me to collect a few more of these. Thank you!

@jack316 and @chequer, glad you got your coins and like them!
Any other CCF supporters out there looking for a free coin from the late 1600s? Or anyone looking to become a new supporter out there? I'll keep this giveaway open for a little while longer as I still have plenty to give away.

Not to burst your bubble or anything, but the contest ended five months ago. It is generally a good practice to look at the date of the last post before you post something in that thread.

Yep, I did sorta re-start this giveaway. Although honestly, I never really closed it and the mods never locked it down so happy to send more out to any CCF supporters.
@NST, send me a PM and I'll get you one of these no problem. Glad you are a sponsor!

Hi Spence:
Thanks to you and the others that helped me figure out the "Belgian" token, have exactly the info was seeking. Just saw your give-a-way post and you convinced me to become a monthly donor...don't know how long before that registers. I've just recently began the older foreign coin gatherings, nothing specific, but those with "history" to them. Be fun to learn @ this one. Thanks, looking forward to more contacts. Butch
