Stunning examples, ldhair! The die clash on the 1855 is amazing. And is that 1870 a proof?

Quote: Wizzy1:Nice clash Thanks! I went to the LCS looking for something else and when I saw it, I pointed the clash out to the sales person. He said if I didn't buy it He would.Of course I couldn't let that happen. Wizzy1,That 1861 is pretty sweet too! So Many really Nice 3CS's in this thread. The one that catches My eye is ldhair's 1855. That's one nice coin You have there.

When I was shopping for a nickle 3-cent piece it came down to a choice between two, this one and an MS-66. I chose this one because the strike was slightly better. A weak strike is generally most evident on the left "I" of the "III". This is as close to a complete strike of a non-proof as I could find. You have to put it under a 10x loupe to see the slight flatness on the "III" so it's the one I bought. The MS-66 had a bit more flatness on the "III". PCGS MS-65
