I have the option to buy 7 tubes of ASE dated 2010, 2008 and older. My two part question is: when selling back will the company pay the premium per date or spot price or is that dependent entirely upon the company? Second question is at $18 per oz is that a great deal with today's silver market? I realize ASE carry a premium vs private minted bullion.

I would personally buy all ASEs I could get at that price, especially older ones

The company most likely will pay a % of spot to buy it back and possibly a little more since ASEs have that premium. But yes with silver at $17.30 an ounce getting them for $18 is a good deal! Nice.

Correct Bigsilver the older ASE carry a higher premium than let's say a 2016 ASE. Will a LCS/Online dealer buy them at their numismatic value or spot price do you think? 2008 ASE on Provident currently are selling at $23.88 per oz.

@Greenprint this is a private party. I ll be sure to check the authenticity of the ASE prior to buying.

i find it hard to believe any dealer would sell at 18$, perhaps an individual , who needs the money, than yes.. and for sure a great price.

I think it is a good deal. I think you will have a hard time finding a 2016 for $18 much less older ASE's.

Nearly all corporate buyers will pay a premium to spot for ASE but few will pay an extra premium by date. $18 is a great deal as long as they are BU. Damaged and otherwise beat up ASEs are worth spot to most people.

Thanks guys! Option was either 7 tubes of ASE or 5 tubes of Buffaloes @ spot. Provident metals currently selling buffs @.69 over spot. Guy was asking $19 per oz, even that was a decent deal but if you're selling at $19 per oz that tells me you prob need cash. So I asked if he'd go $18 per oz, had to buy 3 rolls to get the $18 deal but at $18 why not purchase all of them? Hopefully tomorrow I can report back. Called up a local jewelry/coin shop to do the testing, $10 to weigh/test 100-140 coins. Jewelry/coin rep was asking where I found this deal and wanted all the logistics lol.

Tips N Tails: I hope your round is marked 999 fine on the edge? Also is it adv. pound (16 ounce) or troy pound (12 ounce)? I have some reservations from your pic.

Per standard practice, "Only fine silver is used in silver bullion and bullion coins; only silver stamped 0.999 purity has value on the trade markets". http://www.jmbullion.com/investing-...fine-silver/

Yes sir! It has a 9999% pure plus serial # engraved on the edge. Still skeptical so I had it tested prior to purchase. There are some really great fakes out there especially when buying from a private party.
