Hey there,

I once bought a collection and there was this Mexican coin.
"Dos Onzas Plata Pura - Calendario Azteca - Cuauhtemoc"

It has many dents and scratches. I believe it was actually in circulation in Mexico for quite a while.
As far as I know, silver coins are used as currency there from time to time?

Does anybody know the year of mintage? Or any futher information?

Thanks

Private firms in Mexico, just like in the U.S. and other countries, mint silver bullion rounds. They don't date them so they can keep using the same dies from year to year.

This is a 2 ounce .999 plata pura (pure silver) round issued by an unnamed company.

I personally do not like bullion that is not identified by the maker, no matter in which country it was made. This particular round may or may not be actual silver, but I suspect it is.

This never circulated in Mexico because it is not a coin.

Here is a one ounce round with a similar reverse.
