dear community ,

i came recently across a web page http://www.eurseree.com which features
at its next auction a 200 yuan 2003 gold panda ms-69 with only euro 1400 starting bid, I m wondering if it is a fake as NGC states usd $ 4730 for a panda 200 yuan 2003 ms69 ?

whats your opinion ?

Just that it's a relatively low starting bid doesn't necessarily mean it's fake. I thought the principle of an auction was to start at a minimum bidding price, perhaps even have a predefined minimum sales price and let the game commence until a final price has been reached, which can be several times the opening bid. At least, that's how it works here in my little corner of the world...

I can't reach the site from here, so I can't say much about the auctioneer. I don't know what the sales price was when the panda was first released, but as for now, it's opening bid is about 2.5 times the gold value, which is not bad for a bullion round.
