So I picked this up at the coin show because (you guessed it) of the pretty toning. I know NADA about these coins, but I was told it was silver. I paid $25. Good price, or a bit much?

(BTW, the color on the Reverse isn't right. It's pretty chrome-like, with just a hint of toning along the top edge.

With the price of silver right now....a bit much but since this is a 2007 probably not too bad. I was going to get 1 of each year of these since they do not have any key dates and all sell for not much over spot but..... Every single one of my Philharmonics have developed the dreaded milk spots and I have 6 or 8 of them.

Oops. Just saw the date typo n the subject.

Milk spot--is that what that white thing is on the tail of the R? Even in TRUE color, that's really there.

Ah, well, they saw me admiring the toning, so I suspect they charged a premium. Lol. Long as I don't get rooked too badly, I don't mind. Nice to have coins I enjoy looking at.
Rest in Peace

I just did a quick search and it looks like you got a good/fair price. I'm sure if you really shopped around you could get a better price.

The thing is, you saw it at a show and liked it because of the toning and you can see how hard it is to capture that in a photo. So, you did just fine -- getting something you will like for years to come.

It's pretty design. The Austrian mint does some neat stuff.

Actually, 25 dollar for this coin is a good price. The coin is 'ein unze Feinsilber', which translates to one ounce of fine silver (.999)

The Philharmoniker is one of the better known bullion series, in this case from Austria. The series is especially known for the more excessive coins, like the 'Big Phil', a 1000 OZ gold coin made in 2004 with a face value of 100.000 Euro.

Milk spots are indeed white spots which appear over time at the surface of bullion coins. There's not much you can do with it. Canadian Maple Leafs are notorious for getting milk spots.

If you like toned coins, don't mind bullion rounds with a bit of a premium and if you're not just into hording ASE's, then this one is definitely a good coin at a good price, I'd say.
