the 1997 $5 gold Franklin D. Roosevelt is an oddity. It was released by it's self and not with others of the same thyme. Odd also is that FDR was President who removed gold from circulating coinage in the 30's.

Great Britain 1996 £2 coin commemorating the European Football (Soccer) championships hosted by the UK that year. The coin looks like a football! It was the last of the solid brass two-pound coins, which were issued as commemoratives between 1986 and 1996 and saw very little circulation:
