As I have previously mentioned, the next expected gaps are 1480, 1473, 1467, 1464, 1461, and 1460. Then we're missing the entire range from 1457 to 1450 (and some of those years doesn't have any AD dated coins, so other equivalents will have to be found), then 1445, 1439, 1435, and just about everything from 1432 on.
Of course, it's perfectly possible that we actually have some of the "missing" dates, and/or that some of the non-gap dates would not be found quickly.
Meanwhile, my next dated coin is... 1323 (and I'm not entirely sure of that one). But I hope to get some more 14th and 15th century dated coins (Islamic ones, obviously) at the COINS show in September. That said, I have a coin from ca. 1457 that is sometimes attributed to exactly this year, and I'd be sure to post it if we make it all the way to 1457 (i.e. through the gaps at 1480, 1473, 1467, 1464, 1461 and 1460).

@Zohar444, those are pretty impressive Talers. Thanks for bringing us back a year and into previously uncharted territory!

Here is a Half Stuiver from the Netherland City of Nijmegen dated 1485 AD. It is attributed as Levinson III-152. By the way, @j1m is correct that I can help us along for a handful of days, but I'm not sure that we will make it back to the 1470s.

Thanks 1c5d! My favorite part of the lion is that tail. Someone had some fun with designing that back in the day.

So many symbols on that side of the coin! Nijmegen's eagle, Gelderland's lion and the globus cruciger for the Holy Roman Empire? As for the date, it is interesting that this date required half of the space (nearly 180 degrees) of the reverse legend. That must be some kind of record.

Here is a Kreuzer from the Austrian Duchy of Vienna dated (14)84 AD. The obv legend is FR R IMP A E I O V while the rev legend is MO NOV AVS 8&. That last digit is one of the shapes of a medieval number 4. It is attributed as Levinson IV 42 and Szego 2L63.

Here is a Kreuzer from a different Austrian Duchy--Styria. It is dated (14)83 AD and has much the same inscription as yesterday's coin, except that on the rev it says MON NOV STI 83. It is attributed as Levinson IV 41.

Quote:Excellent progress now! Incidentally, I did some calculations, and as far as I can tell, if there won't be any unexpected delays, the Fifth Edition should catch this one either in December 2019, or in January 2020. (Not sure which is more likely - though I'm hoping for the latter.) If we end up stuck too quickly, and the former happens, would it be possible to start the Sixth Edition with 2020 on the first day anyway? (Note: as of right now, absent delays, the Fifth Edition is expected to reach the year 1483 by December 11, 2019. To be assured of running ahead of it until 2020 starts, we need to get all the way to 1462, through expected gaps at 1480, 1473, 1467 and 1464. Of course, if there is any delay on the Fifth Edition itself - which isn't that unlikely for 1486 in particular - things could get easier.)

I prefer to only have two at the same time. New editions are started when the one edition reaches the same year as the other. The other is locked and a new one created.
