I don't know if this is allowed here, but as a Canadian-based newbie collector of UK coins, I'm looking for online alternatives to ebay for buying.
The sites that pop up first on google searching are a little expensive for my pocket. ;-(
Can anyone recommend any trusted/favourite alternatives?
Thanks
Rest in Peace

Have you tried just plain old online auction sites? I do a lot of purchases through Proxibid.com. Just have to watch their buyer's fees and shipping charges. This site (as well as others) list just US auctions, possibly a Canadian version? Also check local estate auctions, have have fair luck getting coins under or at melt, some very nice, Local here charges 5-7% less and no shipping when pickup is local, even get a cash pay discount!

As a Canadian who is pretty active in collecting, buying and selling UK coins, I would say that ebay is probably the most liquid market for UK coins. Dix Noonan Webb holds a lot of on line auctions, plus of course there are the US houses.

You can occasionally get great deals in Canada, where there is a lot of inventory and not too many buyers who know what they are doing........

But you need to find a seller who is truly motivated. All too often, dealers cling to catalogue prices that are hopelessly out of touch with market values.
