Cleaning (Or Not) Question For The Forum

NHcoinster New Member United States 44 Posts	Posted 04/07/2017 9:13 pm I think I'm gonna take the advice of I've gotten recently from you all and send some higher value but odd ball coins out for TPG. Question I have is this... The 15 or so coins I'm looking at are all in 2x2 squares, and haven't been physically touched in years. Should I literally send them out as is (in their packaging) or "attempt" to soak them first in acetone or the like? I have no idea if they need to be cleaned in the first place. But I'm just wondering that if there is some grime that could be removed, the slabbing process just ensures it stays there forever. Advice on how to proceed? If they're dirty, the TPG will recommend their conservation service and clean them before slabbing. For a fee of course . . But it would be worth it for rare and high value coins.
