Quote: Can I post Canadian & other foreign commemoratives in this thread? Of course! Otherwise, I would have to move this topic to the US Commemoratives and Non-Circulating Coinage (NCLT) forum.

I have complete sets of Buffalo nickels, Franklin halves and Jefferson nickels. Had to have a commemorative for those sets. I have a fair number of modern commemoratives now and a few older half dollar commemoratives. These are pretty coins in my eye. I didn't want to get carried away, but I have the US Marshals and Mark Twain and I think those are neat. Maybe later if nobody else sticks them up. 2001 American Buffalo unc Dollar 1999 Dolley Madison unc dollar 1993 James Madison proof dollar 1993 Thomas Jefferson unc Dollar 2006 Benjamin Franklin Founding father unc Dollar

I love those Philippine MacArthur commemoratives! I have the pair also, but haven't dug them out in a while. I generally don't collect modern commemoratives except opportunistically, but I somehow ended up collecting nearly every Japanese commemorative from 1964 until the staggeringly expensive 47 Prefectures 500 and 1000 yen coins. This one is among my favorites: 5,000 yen Osaka Garden Expo 1990 I managed to win this one for about face value, which was a bit under $50 at the time. Interestingly, it is the first Japanese coin (but not banknote) to feature a human face.
