I've seen these referred to as 'scrambled ladders'.
Or maybe I made it up, I dont know.

WOW! doesn't help me to understand what is a good one or bad one. I am not looking for a profit from anything I would post, just trying to learn and start a Coin/PM collection. I am a late bloomer but it is never to late to start anything.  Edited by KittenLove

To be a keeper, the numbers would have to be in ascending or descending order. I like the term "jumbled ladder" for these. In Memory of Crazyb0 12-26-1951 to 7-27-2020

It's not that common but not particularly rare either - specifically, it's ~12 times more common than a radar (assuming 3 possible straight combinations - 0 to 7, 1 to 8 and 2 to 9).
Mind you, that still comes out to only 0.12% (in other words, one bill in 800).

It is a good one if you like it. If it is a $1.00 note, keep it. Especially since you are not looking for profit. You may not run across another.

Lettow has solid general advise, but in answer to the OP's question concerning if the note is considered a straight, the answer is no.
Now, if you were playing a game of cards, and could rearrange the cards in your hand, you could make it a straight.....but unfortunately it doesn't work that way with printed serial numbers.
