Neither are keepers. Sorry.
Most of the time, they are only collectible if they are perfect or near perfect patterns. (Ex: 55554555 may demand some money, but 55555555 would demand more.)

Radar: meaning in and out numbers are the same 123454321, or 12344321. Could be 53722735, those are 8/9 digit radar.

Repeater: meaning repeat of one, two , three or four numbers, 11223344, 55228844(2's), 555777333(9 digit) or 55558888(4's)

Binary: two numbers repeated 44996611, 01010101, 00110101,

All number, no repeat, 12345678, 97086453.

Those are a start, unless all numbers fall into a pattern with all digits used, one offs don't count, no premiums.

You can find a good list of Fancy serial numbers with descriptions/pictures here:

https://www.pmgnotes.com/news/artic...ial-Numbers/

This one is just for fun - the Universal Coolness Index (UCI) :

http://www.coolnumbers.com/UCI.html

EDIT: I can also add "mismatched serials" to that list above. This is where the two printed serial numbers don't match each other (kinda obvious but keepers for sure).

Are "birthday numbers" cool? Or are they just vanity pieces?

These are NOT repeaters

Correct, these are not repeaters.

Something like 1212121 is a repeater.

Uh, No - U.S. modern notes have 8 digits in the S/N. More like 12121212 (actually a Super repeater and a repeater).

P.S. I bet Steve would like that one!

Those are collectable and have a premium which will depend upon the condition of the note and the demand for the date.

I've found a few but I don't think I'd ever get excited about a birthday/anniversary note unless it was MY birthday or MY anniversary. Then I'd frame it....and then I'd wonder what to do with a framed note.

There are plenty of opportunities on ebay to PAY for a "birthday" note if you really want it. But selling one is another story.

Also there isn't a solid definition of what a birthday note actually is, considering that there are many ways to represent a date.
