I found an 1853 Half Dime at my local coin shop. Does anyone have an idea of its value?   |

Holed coin of this type is worth about $5, IMO.
It's 90% silver, so keep it.

I got it for 10 cents, so even melt value would be good.

pf123, because it is "jewelry ready" (holed) it is a damaged coin and is worth a little more than silver melt. On ebay, one holes are $9.00, a two-holer is $6.75. In the real world it's worth about $4.00 in that grade. I bought mine in an auction lot of 3 Half Dimes and 3 dimes for $10.00 + s/h |

10 cents is an awesome price. Holed coins are not usually collected unless they are very rare. Still, it's a nice coin that will always be worth its melt value.

Probably worth about $3.
10 cents for this is a good buy though. Though it doesn't have any real collector value, it's still a nice conversation piece, and you could even make jewelry out of it if you really wanted to.

Although 1853 is the most common year, that would probably fetch $5 on ebay with the hole in it |

Somebody - maybe here? - is building a typeset (think Dansco 7070) of holed coins.
