What Is Difference In Luster - Coin Community Forum

moses2766 New Member United States 10 Posts	Posted 08/11/2017 3:15 pm In going through some dimes of my mother I noticed that some have different lusters. I'm not talking about some used more than others. Looking at some of the dimes that are in almost uncirculated condition one has a clear luster and the other a more matalic finish. moxking Rest in Peace United States 17900 Posts	Posted 08/11/2017 6:31 pm Photos of your comparison coins would help us answer more specifically. Luster is often changed in color because of environmental contact - where the coin has been. That's called toning and that also may be the answer to your question. Report this Post to the Staff
