Im Just Trying To See If My1942 Nickel Is Worth Anything And If So How Much

I've been going through rolls of dimes/nickels/pennies for the last few weeks and today I had what I thought was my FIRST SILVER! Steele Pillar of the Community United States 1119 Posts	Posted 09/18/2017 11:06 pm the silver issues have a large mint mark on the reverse above the dome, yours does not. 1942 type one 5c in this grade worth about a nickel. Report this Post to the Staff
spru Bedrock of the Community United States 12477 Posts	Posted 09/19/2017 03:32 am Yeah, that's the one that was minted in both compositions. Yours is not of the 35% silver type because of the aforementioned mintmark thing. Here's a comparison (courtesy PCGS) of Type I (non-silver) and Type II (35% silver): All silver nickels ( War Nickels) have a large mintmark over Monticello's dome on the reverse. I hope this helps. Don't be discouraged! War Nickels can still be found in rolls and change. I don't heavily roll-hunt by any means and I've found one. Good luck!
