KM#10.4
Weight: 24.4 Gms.
Diameter: 37 mm

It has some die differences than others I have seen and It is a bit underweight. How many variants are known? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Napoleon Bonaparte became king of Italy between 1805 -1814, as a satellite state of France. Was created a new national currency, replacing the local coins circulating in the country; the Italian Lira, of the same size, weight, and silver content of the French Franc.

I can't help you with your questions, but I think it's a really cool piece. Some one else will be along soon to help out I'm sure.

@wonghinghi, nice coin, what about the edge? For 1808 Milan mint has 2 edge varieties, with incuse lettering or in relief.

But it's not underweight by much, and that specific gravity is a hard thing to fake.

1812 was a disastrous year for Napoleon. Perhaps the Milan mint was instructed to slightly shortchange the Italian populace at that point, the balance reverting to the emperor's coffers.

There are MANY different die configurations due to details being hand-punched into them directly. I do not believe they are all catalogued although some major varieties are so.
