Here's one I just received - a $6 lesson in "do better research". The Little Bar - Houston TX. The RS counterstamp indicates that it is a modern fantasy piece from ~ 1970, not a vintage trade token. I did a cursory search on Token Catalogue beforehand, but didn't see it so thought it was unlisted. After it arrived, I did a deeper dive and found out that it's TC-211033.   Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Took awhile to pin down the story on this little treasure: Even though available at the Denver and Philadelphia Mint gift shops in April 2007, what has become known as Presidential "Oath Dollars" didn't become widely known to the numismatic community until July 2008 when they were offered for sale on the TV shopping network HSN. By this time, several hundred had been purchased from the Denver Mint gift shop and placed in an ANACS holder. The Mint's gift shops are run by Aramak, a private contractor. Aramak commissioned the Penny Press Mint to encase 1,000 of each Presidential dollar from each mint in an aluminum ring. They originally sold in the gift shops for $4.99. The price was later increased to $5.99.
The obverse of the aluminum encasement reads "PRESERVE, PROTECT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES". The reverse has 50 stars and 50 rays and is from a stock die used with other Penny Press Mint products. The Penny Press Mint's mint mark, "PPM", is on the reverse of the aluminum encasement at 6 o'clock.
Even though the aluminum encasement IS NOT a U.S. Mint product, these pieces have become collectible to many collector's due to it being sold exclusively at the Mint's gift shop. Others think of these pieces as "gimmicky" with minimal value. Couple more obscure Presidential coins: Copper Token - William H. Harrison, Harrison didn't last long, about a month as President. This coin is a smaller version of the 77mm Inauguration Medal.   Brass Token - George Washington "American Fabious" From Numista: This token was made by the Scovill Manufacturing Company of Waterbury, Connecticut during the early 20th century. Scovill was established in 1802 as a button manufacturer and is still in business today. Scovill was an early industrial American innovator, adapting armory manufacturing processes to mass-produce a variety of consumer goods including buttons, daguerreotype mats, and political tokens.  |

Here's a nice bronze coin minted (5000 in total) by the Franklin Mint between 1968-70 for the Kentucky Historical Society to commemorate Daniel Boone.   |

From Crawford & Farber's Louisiana Trade Tokens, Second Edition: CF 9292 A100. 39 mm; R9 "Zenoria, LA. LaSalle Parish. Extinct. According to legend the town was named for an early settler couple, Zed and Noria. The post office was established in 1920 and closed in 1964."   "Trantow LA 1364-A; Schenkman Z5. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, this company was in operation from 1920 until 1937. The firm owned twenty thousand acres, had 150 employees in 1925, and a branch in Jonesville from 1932 to 1937." Excellent! I looked on the map. Not much there. The remains of a Baptist church and a few buildings or houses. Feels like a typical rural country road. |

Here's a new acquisition. Storz Gold Crest Beer spinner from Storz Brewing Company in Omaha, NE, USA. Late '40s or early 50's. I can only imagine the laughter and finger pointing when this was used to figure who would pay for the next round.   Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

I started collecting these various coins themed after various movie, TV shows and video games.
Not sure they belong here to be posted but might post them later.
