I think you're right Hondo. All of the Luger images the butt of the gun is pointed. Thanks.

Liking this pistol counterstamp  I think Hondo got it right: Walther P38. A luger has a "hinge" for the over-complicated firing mechanism shown in the two pics. The mechanism was not as reliable as other pistols, but was one of the coolest looking pistols made IMO. The coolness factor makes them very expensive. The complex mechanism (therefore higher cost but more parts to go wrong when firing) makes it such that companies that have tried to re-issue the design end up with not enough sales to keep going.

The knurled knob on the Luger is the grip to chamber a round. Pull back then release. I had a C96 "Broomhandle" Mauser pistol for a while, with wooden holster / stock (similar to the one pictured). Advanced for its time, but far too many internal parts that wore out. It was a jam-master - was happy to unload it for a profit.
