Thanks everyone. I have one more newly acquired counter stamp that I'll photograph and post sometime tomorrow. Then I think it'll be quiet for a little while. I don't have anything new on its way at the moment. I'll keep up the hunt though!

Interesting one for sure. Wish it could tell its story.

Colorado state interesting facts and history card with counter stamped 1974 LMC... I think it's kinda funny that the card is Colorado's and the company using it as an advertisement is in Omaha, Nebraska EDIT: I think this is the 8th or 9th state I've found attached to a card.

Quote:Colorado state interesting facts and history card with counter stamped 1974 LMC... Cool. Is there any significance to the date 1974 or is it just the one they pulled out of the pile at random? I don't see any link based on the data on the card.

I'm going to guess that that was the year or the year before it was stamped. Just a new coin.
I'm curious now. I'm going to check and see what years the other state card counter stamps are.

So I wonder if this means they just kept making every state for however many years they put them out, or if they just used any shiny penny no matter what the year actually was they selling/making the counterstamps?

Lower effort means greater profit, so I say they just used any shiny penny no matter what the year actually was.

This was one of the first counter stamps that I posted on this thread. I finally found one still mounted to its original 'Interesting Facts' Card...

Don't think I'd have figured that out on my own. Looks like a memorial to Cooperstown to me.
