I believe this to be a Hong Kong gold Tael.

24K
Weight: 37.45g

Would like to find out if this coin has numismatic value (besides bullion value)? Also, what year is it?

Thank you.

Weight is within tolerance of what a tael is supposed to be. Might be made around 1930s from what I see.

Here's one example sold a while back - it has different label but is of similar type.

Thank you for the info and the link. Apparently these are considered "coins" and as such they are graded as a "coin"! That's what may explain why one graded as AU sold for $2,220, about $600 more than bullion value.

I wonder what is the criteria to grading these bullions? That's where I can see some gap between the bullion value and the numismatic value. I paid $1,400 for it.

I bought it at an online auction. I bid upto near the bullion value. If worth more than that, it would be a bonus.

They test all gold and most gemstones using a third party authenticator. This was found to be 24K.

I'm reluctant to call this numismatics - these didn't really circulate as these meant to be bullion and they were not struck / cast by official mints.

That said, the historical importance of this cannot be understated.
