Hey Lucky! Those remind me of modern cartoon frames! Guess thats really all most of those German's had left was their sense of humor! Too bad that was the precursor of what was to come for them...

Well, I have to thank LC for the thread, I just jumped into the Notgeld pool, too, with an old album just purchased. Now I'm hooked, I'll emerge again in a few weeks, lots of inventory and collecting stuff to do. Just a few pages, for a tease. It's 600+ different, all in UNC and series. Lots of fun for a collector with not a large outlay. (So far). I've been drooling over LCs purchase for at least three weeks, I think. I've had a very few of these Notgeld around for years, and just never took the plunge, until now.

Quote: Well, I have to thank LC for the thread, I just jumped into the Notgeld pool, too, with an old album just purchased. You're welcome! And despite the size of either of our acquired accumulations, they in fact just scratch the surface of the genre. Still a long ways to go to compile a complete collection, if that's even really possible. That said, here's my latest installment -
Colligo ergo sum

It certainly looks like I'm going to have a collection of about 1,000 of these in just a few weeks ! Then I opened a catalog from Krause and see where there are about 10,000 of these around, and bought two unlisteds just now, so the sky seems to be the limit. For the entire genre, looks to be over 150,000 discrete items, so I'll stick with the serienscheine from Germany, for now. Lots of lovely issues, and German to work on. I'm removing all from the old acidic paper albums and storing in polyester sleeves, means storage costs are a factor, and some runs take 3 or more sleeves, but 38 cents for the sleeve, 1 cent for a town label, and 1 cent for the lidded 5x8 box is 40 cents. Not too bad, much better than an album. The Krause catalog seems to be a checklist, I've ordered the Grabowski catalogs from Germany, looking forward to seeing them. I'm still drooling over your photos, very nice. These are from Bochum, a veteran's relief series.

Counted over 600 so far. Lucky Cuss: You are a lucky cuss! In my experience, notgeld much harder to find in Australia.
