Nice. What I did on some of the higher value coins was purchase attractive examples in TPG holders (sometimes lightly cleaned) and cracked them out and taped the insert in the album. Since so many Trade dollars are fake, this is one type you may want to consider this tactic. Looks like you are almost complete. Good Luck.

@jimbucks, great advice. I'm finding it harder to find raw coins for the seated liberty and barbers. That Trade dollar will certainly be a slabbed coin...and likely the last hole to fill. Should I limit my search for a 29 cent coin to TPG?

Should I limit my search for a 29 cent coin to TPG? I assume you meant 20 cent piece. In my opinion, I probably would. In general, you can probably get a nice looking TPG lightly cleaned coin for the same price of a raw coin, and have the piece of mind that it is genuine. When I went this route, I considered NGC, PCGS, ANACS (all holders), and ICG. For me, the type set is not about technical grade, but eye appeal at an affordable price. Good looking XF or AU examples of most type coins are plentiful. Good luck.

Just plugged in an 1876 seated liberty half to my 7070. Woah! The remaining seated liberty type coins ( Twenty Cent and dollars) will be TOUGH! Any advice on how to approach that daunting task?

Since you have over 50 posts, you can post it on the "numismatic want list" category on this website. It would help to identify the price point of interest. These coins all pretty plentiful in all grades.

Wizard, save a couple bucks every week. It adds up believe me. That's how I purchase my coins.

Thx for all the feedback. I was trying to complete a type set within a type set...all Seated Liberty coins, before moving on to small and large cents. It gives you the illusion of making more progress. Patience...

Okay Wizardnyc that settles it, I'm officially jealous of your set. ! Quote: @USSID18 NICE!! The Oregon Trail is my favorite commemorative. On my wish list. Thanks Wizardnyc! Yes, I'm happy with this one as well. I had no problem breaking it out. Good advise from jimbucks. I have pictures of the coins in the slabs in the back of the album as well. I saw this one and had to have it. Great addition with that arrows and rays! It jumps off the page! with jimbucks. My Trade dollar (once I get one) will be coming out of a slab. One without cleaning or details could be pricey. It's amazing how many out there (on ebay) are slabbed cleaned and detailed. One with chop marks would be nice. It's one thing how a TPG can determine the authenticity of a coin. It's beyond me how they can determine if chop marks are authentic. Seems like those could easily be fake! And that's why I'm not a grader. Besides that, wouldn't chop marks be considered PMD? Quote: Just plugged in an 1876 seated liberty half to my 7070. Very nice indeed! You seem to be chugging right along slow and methodical. And yes, I'm thinking those Seated dollars will not be easy for me either. When I first stated this 7070 project, the goal was to just find nice (or recognizable) coins to fill the holes. .....Wrong! Now it's like a stinkin addiction! If I see a coin that's an obvious upgrade and it's within my budget, I have to have it.

Quote: One with chop marks would be nice. I would stay away from a chop marked Trade dollar for your 7070. They may be interesting, but not particularly collectible. Your best value may be a nice example in an ANACS or ICG holder (avoid SEGS or other basement slabbers) as they often sell at a discount to PCGS or NGC.

Mortgage the house, max out the credit cards or steal from family members. Nothing gets in the way of those additions. What's the next one on your list? I think the next one for me, might be a Trade dollar.
