Some stowaways I found hiding amongst Australian 10 cent coins.

That Deutsch Mark is the first German coin I've ever found in circulation in Australia.

Yes,surprising what turns up in change.
The US Quarter used to work in most 10c Oz.Poker machines back before 1984 when they went to $1 Coins.

I was on a cruise from Sydney to Melbourne, Burnie and Hobart three years ago. In the casino was a 'pusher' machine that took US quarters, and I discovered that Australian 10c coins would work in it perfectly!

A quarter in exchange for 10c? That's a pretty good deal.

These 8 Canberra Florins cost me just $100NZD, thats barely melt on them. Mostly VF/EF but one of those coins looks at least AU!

Some people charge $35 - $40 each for average examples of these coins!

not AU, some of them good EF grades. Nevertheless great pick up at 100NZ if that the total cost well done, I'm jealous (trademe?).

Okay EF and Yes they were off trademe.

The seller had them on at $120 and I bookmarked it. Incredibly the coins did not go at $120 which is a good price. I had forgotten about it (Had been going nuts buying British shillings from 1739 and 1835 and the like) and he offered the Florins as a buy now at $100. That is barely melt, so jumped on it.

If silver gets to $30US an ounce again, they will be over $12.50 per coin in silver. I mainly brought them as they cover the gamut of conditions. I would say only 2 coins would get EF, most of them are VF and the 2 in the top row are not even that. In fact the 2nd coin in the Top row would be barely Fine. Usually you would not see Canberras below gVF.

I have a thing for worn examples of coins usually found in high grades. When I get them, I will grade them properly.

A 1985 50 cent is always a great find, regardless of condition! Well done!
