I Cannot Identify This Coin (Id: Pirate Party Token)

Have been trying to identify a coin my son found in Bisbee, AZ (an old copper mining town) while hiking. It is less than an inch in diameter at its widest. Genuine coins are made of gold, which this coin clearly is not. In this old thread, you can find identical-looking coins, with the exact same shape and oddities in the design.
