Yes it was a good find but now I have to find another $200 to pay for them.

Wow. Wow. Wow! Now that is a score. I see you want to keep all 8. Good man. They will always be worth at least $200 forever. . Congrats, and thanks for sharing. .

Thanks for the pics SilverDon. Of all the 2020 Gift sets, this one caught my eye as well. Reminds me of the Lullaby Loonie. The bonus loonie, it's about time. . One of these sets meets my scissors once a year, to fill in my album. The 2nd loonie now means I only need to add a 50 cent piece to finish/fill 2020. I have this set and the Specimen set sitting in a cart somewhere. I need to get some supplies to add to the order, then I'll pull the trigger. I'll post the new Mammal loonie when I get it, if someone doesn't beat me to it. Hint..hint.. .. . Don't be shy. . PS. That standard loonie looks like a pretty decent strike. In a picture, through plastic though. How's it look in hand?

Quote: ...The bonus loonie, it's about time. . One of these sets meets my scissors...] Exactly! I bought the 'Wedding' set earlier this year for that reason. I always buy the 'Uncirculated' set each year but I never break them apart for some reason, so I figured to butcher the wedding set for five of the six coins I need for my folders. Also, I needed an extra $15 purchase at the time to get me to the free RCM shipping limit. The 2020 'Wedding' loonie is the first non-proof loonie I've ever bought/added to my collection. Knowing my OCD, I might soon be looking to buy all of the past x/years of loonies.

Not sure if you Loonie collectors know about the 2010 Vancouver Olympic mini stick. Don't see these around to much. Found this in a junk box at a dealers store.

In a junk bin!! That hurts. Buy a 2nd set and break them out and start a game of pick up. Hack the key chain off and you have a puck.

Here are the 1997 PL Loones that have been over looked. There is a difference in the dates and theres a large 7 and small 7. The Ottawa and Winnepeg Mints made sets that year.

My observation is that the "7" difference follows the coin finish rather than the set type. I differentiate 3 types of 1997 loonies. 1) Proof - with frosted devices, legends, and rims. It has the bigger 7.
2) Specimen - shiny devices with the frosted crown, frosted legends, wide frosted rims. It has the bigger 7 as well. The field is lined. This is the most common coin available from Baby set, Ottawa PL set, and some of Winnipeg PL sets. Though Winnipeg sets have generally lower quality.
3)"PL". I put the designation in quotes because it actually does not match the classic definition. The coin has BU devices, not frosted (and not sharp) legends, and narrow rounded uneven rims. In short, it looks like a regular Business Strike, but is has very lightly lined background. That coin has a smaller '7'. The coin is available in Winnipeg set (about 50% of the sets). Another note: same sets include 2$ coin that is indistinguishable from a business strike 2$.
I have not found a 1997 Loon that is a true PL with polished background and wide sharp rims.
Could you please check rims on your coin with the smaller '7'.

Charlton 70th edition Vol.1 lists 2002 1$ Loon with Specimen finish. I believe this is a mistake and the only 2002 specimen dollar is "Family of Loons" which is properly listed in Vol.2. But I think it is worthwhile checking whether the coin truly exists or not.
